Difference between vinyl matt and soft sheen.

Silk and soft sheen. Gives a high sheen finish and is the hardest wearing of all the emulsion paints. This paint finish works well for walls but not trim around doors windows etc. Very shiny and washable.

Dulux have made a vinyl matt that s suppose to be washable ie. Matt paint is smooth and unlike sheen doesn t reflect as much light and therefore isn t shiny. Slight shine to it but washable. You can also use it to subtly highlight traditional features like coving and cornices.

Low sheen paint best for busy high traffic areas. 1 vinyl matt dull finish but not washable 2 soft sheen. Vinyl silk emulsion gives a shiny reflective finish. It is the most durable of these three emulsion paints.

A washable dull finish emulsion. Matte finish paint is non reflective which allows them to conceal surface imperfections better than other paints. Gives a matt non shiny finish. Soft sheen paint is not as flat as matt paint and gives a subtle sheen but not quite a shine.

Soft sheen paint is a great paint if you live in a house with children as it is very maintenance friendly. Does not usually wear as well as the glossier emulsions although the latest formulations are far tougher. You can wash eggshell paints without harming the surface. With the best washability of all wall paints low sheen paint can be wiped easily making it ideal for busy areas that require frequent cleaning.
