I got a new monitor arm and my 6 foot cable isn t long enough to connect my pc and my monitor so i m getting a new one.
Using anything beyond that increases the chances of the risks mentioned previously.
Keep the cable length under 3m.
According to dell the maximum recommended cable length to ensure optimal performance is 1 8 meters 6 feet.
Spend the extra cash to get a good one and reap the rewards with a fully functional display.
It is worth your time.
Search optical display port solution.
My hope here is to inform others who might not know or thought the same way i did about cables.
Ymmv with cheaper cables.
I ll add that these are the highest quality most expensive cables i could find.
I ll be using dual displayport setup for 2 monitors eventually only have one at the moment but my question is there any issue with resolution loss if i m running a displayport connection at about 25ft roughly the length i ll need for the cable to wind down the display arm under desk along wall up shelf into pc.

I thought i remember when i built my pc almost 2 years ago that a displayport cable could only be 6 feet long to have 4k video and anything longer would be 1440p.
Don t get yourself into trouble by trusting your beautiful new monitor to a crummy 2 displayport cable.

Cables greater than 2 meters may or may not support hbr hbr2 speeds.
Buy certified displayport cables for screens that are close to the limit of displayport 1 2 spec.
Longer cables will not sustain correct signalling and you ll encounter problems.
